35: Going Live, From States to Systems

2014

Going Live, From States to Systems responds to the period between the 1970s and 1990s when environmentalism began to decline and strategies of ecology began to arise. Influenced by early landscape projects by architects such as Ludwig Hilberseimer, Patrick Geddes, Frank Lloyd Wright, and Benton MacKaye, Pamphlet 35 explores the underdeveloped processes of urbanization and the fallout of such movements during the early 1990s. The pamphlets layout is inspired by A Tropical Rain Forest by ecologist Howard T. Odum and is organized through a system of scales: cell, organ, organism, organization, group, society, and supranational.
